About BeforeYouEnroll
Picking classes shouldn't feel like a gamble. BeforeYouEnroll helps UMass Boston students choose with real information from people who already took the class.
Why this exists
A lot of us commute, work, and juggle family while we're in school. Many of us are the first in our families to go to college, or we transferred in and don't know anyone yet. One bad schedule can cost a semester.
Star ratings alone don't tell you much. So alongside verified reviews, we show the things you actually need to plan around: how many hours a week a class takes, how grades are earned, whether attendance counts, and what you'll need to buy.
BeforeYouEnroll was built by one UMB student who wanted this when registering.
Verified, and still anonymous
You sign in with your @umb.edu email so we know every review comes from a real student. Your name, email, and account are never shown next to anything you post, and professors can't see who wrote a review. How we verify
No one can pay to change a rating
Not a business, not a department, not a professor. Ratings can't be bought, hidden, or boosted. Scores only appear once at least 3 students have weighed in, so a single review never decides a professor's number.
Fair to everyone
Reviews are about the teaching and the course, not the person. Honest negative reviews are welcome; abusive ones are removed. Review guidelines
